Description

National Project on the consequences of the Navarino Oil spill, in 1994. A data set of benthic brackish water invertebrates from Gialova lagoon (SW Pelopponese), Ionian Sea, Greece, collected on four sampling periods between April 1995 and March 1996. Includes seven sampling stations, each with five replicates for abundance counts for each sampling period and also biomass (dry weight and ash-free) for each station/sampling period. A set of 18 environmental variables, including temp, pH, Rdx, particulate organic matter, dissolved oxygen, salinity, chlorophyll-a, were also measured for each sampling station-sampling period combination.

Description des étapes de la méthode:

  1. Area sampled by equipment is 0.04m². The following measurements were taken: (1) Dry weight (DW) and ash-free dry weight (AF) biomass; (2) Counts of individuals species present; (3) Environmental including: Tmp (sed): temperature at the bottom surface; Rdx(sed)0: Eh value at the bottom surface (0cm); Rdx(sed)2: Eh value at the first 2cm of the sediment; Rdx(sed)4: Eh value at the first 4cm of the sediment; POC: particulate organic matter concentration at the first 2 cm of the sediment; Chl-a: Chlorophyl-a concentration at the first 2 cm of the sediment; PhPgm: Total paheopigments concentration at the first 2 cm of the sediment; Md: sediment mean grain size; SlCl: percentage of slit clay in the sediments; Dst: distance from the canal opening; Sal: Salinity; dis.O2: dissolved oxygen consentration in the water column; pH; NH4: ammonium concentartion in the water column; NO3: nitrate concentration in the water column; NO2: nitrite concentration in the water column; PO4: phosphate concentration in the water column; SiO4: silicate concentration in the water column;
